Christingle:  Click left moving image to find out more about Christingle.

This is the Order of Service led by Chris Hills and the Guides.

Welcome

Leader
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. Jesus, light of the world,

All
Let your light shine in us.

Hymn
Thou, whose almighty word
Chaos and darkness heard,
And took their flight;
Hear us, we humbly pray,
And where the Gospel-day
Sheds not its glorious ray,
Let there be light.

Thou, who didst come to bring
On thy redeeming wing
Healing and sight,
Health to the sick in mind
Sight to the inly blind,
O now to all mankind
Let there be light.

Spirit of truth and love,
Life-giving holy Dove,
Speed forth thy flight;
Move on the water’s face,
Bearing the lamp of grace
And in earth’s darkest place
Let there be light.

Holy and blessed Three,
Glorious Trinity,
Wisdom, Love, Might;
Boundless as ocean’s tide
Rolling in fullest pride,
Through the earth far and wide
Let there be light.

Hymn
Sing Christingle (Tune, sing Hosanna)

The Christingle is made of an orange,
Which is round like the world God made.
For he showed us His love in creation;
In the world we see his power displayed.

Chorus.
Sing Christingle! Sing Christingle!
Sing Christingle, it’s the light of Christ
Sing Christingle! Sing Christingle!
Sing Christingle, Light of Christ.

Every year we give thanks for the seasons,
And fruits of the earth God Gives
The Christingle is here to remind us
of the love of God for all that lives

Ch. Sing Christingle! Sing Christingle!

Then to show us his love, God sent Jesus.
We remember his birth again,
But the red ribbon round the Christingle
Shows that our sins cost him blood and pain.

Ch.Sing Christingle! Sing Christingle!

To complete the Christingle a candle,
Shining out with a bright new Flame,
Telling us of the true light of Jesus,
Shining on in those who love his name.

Ch.Sing Christingle! Sing Christingle!

Lord Jesus Christ, Light of the World, we pray for the Children’s Society. Guide them in their work so that they may bring light into the darkness of children ignored, forgotten and disregarded by others. Keep us faithful in our prayer and support of the Children’s Society. Help us together to shine your light into the darkness. Amen.

Leader
Let us now say the prayer that Jesus taught us:

All
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name,
You kingdom come your will be done,
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
Now and for ever. Amen
