A Letter from All Saints’ Church Datchworth 15th December 2004

Dear Friends

My name is Linda Hall and I have been nominated by All Saints’ Church Datchworth PCC to act as the contact to develop the link between our two parishes.

As you may know Tony was of great support to us in our very recent inter-regnum and we felt that we got to know him and his family quite well.  When he relocated to Wheatley Park we felt that we would like to continue our association with him and his chosen parish.  Strengthening a link with fellow Christians from a different community was an opportunity not to be missed. My husband Mike and I visited Tony, Pauline and Barrie in the summer on our way home from a holiday in the Lake District and were made very welcome.

So let me tell you a little about our church and parish. Datchworth is a small Home Counties village not far from the outskirts of London. We have a village shop, a Post Office and two Pubs. Everybody knows everyone else and it is a lovely place to live.  We worship in a beautiful 900 year old church sited at one of the highest points in Hertfordshire.  We have 90ish souls on our Electoral Role from all walks of life and manage a congregation of 40 on a good Sunday. The Inter-regnum now over, we are officially about to be part of a team ministry consisting of the parishes of Welwyn, Tewin, Ayot St Peter and Woolmer Green all semi-rural villages of a similar nature to ours.  The team ministry is composed of the Team Rector Rev. Alan Winton, the Team Vicar, our own Rev. Coralie McCluskey and a number of other clergy.

We felt that a good way to progress our relationship was through the following;

We would love to hear of your ideas and very much look forward to hearing from you and developing our joint Christian fellowship.

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.

On behalf of the Datchworth All Saints’ Church PCC,

Linda
