We extend a warm welcome to all our visitors, especially to the Rev Mervyn Terrett who will be leading our worship this morning.

Our altar is open to members of all denominations. If you do not wish to receive Communion please come to receive a blessing and certainly bring any children with you for a blessing.

Coffee – do stay for a coffee and a chat after the service in the new church hall.

Today’s readings:          Revelation 21.10,22 – 22.5
                                                 John 14.23-29

Today’s collect: God our redeemer, you have delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of your Son: grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life, so by his continual presence in us he may raise us to eternal joy; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Christian Aid – Many thanks to all collectors. Please return envelopes to Linda and Mike Hall. There are post cards on the table by the entrance to the church to send to the Prime Minster urging his help towards alleviating poverty in the Third World. Please take, complete and send.

Help needed to provide a welcoming cup of coffee in the hall for wedding guests on Saturday June 12th (yes Datchworth Fete day!), 12 noon to 1pm as the guests arrive and then 1.30pm to 2pm after the service. This is in support of hiring the hall to wedding parties as a way of raising funds to cover building and running costs. Please try to fit this in before dashing to help / spend at the fete – see Alison or call her on 01438 816874.

New news sheet feature – see back page for next week’s readers and readings.

Calling Out Course
– at 8pm this Tuesday in the Church Hall. Following on from J.John's book Calling Out, comes a new course on evangelism for small groups. This course is tailor-made for discussions, study and reflection, and is an ideal tool for equipping Christians for practical and effective evangelism and mission. The course runs over 7 weeks (4 more including this week) – contact Alison Draper for further information – 01438 816874.

Open Gardens to raise funds towards covering the cost of the new Church Hall – please note the date in your diary – Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th June 2004. Volunteers needed to help with the catering and to make sponges and fruit cakes – please contact Jean Austin 01438 813846, Chris Hills – 01438 811627 or Anne Charles – 01438 812098.

Anniversary or celebrating the life of a loved one? – would you like to contribute towards the cost of the flowers for that period? – contact Diana Glanville – 01438 812230 or Margaret Kirk – 01438 812734.
